Visitors will pass through this pavilion as they exit the Grand Concourse and enter the North Building at McCormick Place. The pavilion will encompass material providers, 3D printers and associated equipment such as sin- tering furnaces, software, scanners and 3D printing service centers. Fisk will be heading up "Methods 3D," a group comprised of application, engineering and sales staf, to install, manage and maintain 3D Systems' printing equipment, labs and showrooms in Methods Technology Centers across the United States. The equipment supplier has had a part- ner agreement with 3D Systems since October of 2015. methodsmachine.com CECIMO Announces AM European Conference CECIMO, the European Association of the Machine Tool Industries, has announced its second Additive Manufacturing European Confer- ence. Discussion topics include principles of EU strategy on AM, regulation and standards, and increasing market acceptance of AM. The event takes place May 25 in Brussels. cecimo.eu America Makes, ANSI Launch Additive Manufacturing Standardization Collaborative America Makes, the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute, and the American Nation- al Standards Institute (ANSI) have launched the Additive Manufactur- ing Standardization Collaborative (AMSC). The purpose of the AMSC is to coordinate and accelerate the development of industry-wide addi- tive manufacturing standards and specifcations and thereby facilitate the growth of the industry. The AMSC aims to coordinate a consistent, harmonized and non-contradictory set of AM stan- dards between the organizations engaged in developing them. The collaborative will identify existing standards and standards in devel- opment, assess gaps, and make recommendations for priority areas where there is a perceived need for additional standardization. gbm.media/amsc Project Will Enable On-Demand 3D Printing of Spare Parts In collaboration with 13 companies, Aalto University and VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd. have launched a two-year research project intended to promote the transition from traditional pro- duction chains of spare parts to a digitized, dynamic network model. The project studies new operating and earnings models as well as current and future technological potential, and builds precondi- tions for a functional network. By enabling the transfer and storage of information in a digital format, the project will allow spare parts to be manufactured via 3D printing according to need, usually close to an end user's location. vttresearch.com AP&C; Expands Powder Manufacturing Capacity AP&C;, Arcam AB's powder man- ufacturing subsidiary located in Montreal, Canada, has added three new atomizing reactors as a result of growth in 2015 and increasing demand for high-quality titani- um powders. The company uses plasma technology to convert raw material to powder with good prop- erties such as fowability, density, chemistry and traceability. "With the new reactors and atomizing technology advance- ments, AP&C; will triple production capacity in 2016," says Alain Dupont, president of AP&C.; arcam.com
